Lobbyists attempt to influence government policy to benefit the people they represent, or to get a certain special interest attention in the government. Lobbying can be a powerful technique and it should be no surprise that most large corporations have lobbyists that make efforts to affect how Congress taxes corporations.

Despite the corporate tax rate being between 15-35 percent on the federal level, and 0-10 percent on the state level, many corporations are capable of paying less, due to legal loopholes and the efforts of lobbyists. Groups like Business Roundtable that lobby for corporations tend to be politically conservative, and look to reduce tax rates for corporations.
